Dr. Smail graduated with a BS degree from Millikin University in December of 2019.  She continued her education at University of Illinois, earning her DVM in May 2024.  Dr. Smail was born and raised in Mt. Zion and wanted to move back to spend time with family and enjoy the strong community surrounding this central Illinois town.  She is married to Jacoob Hanes and loves spending time with him, their family, and their unique and beautiful pets.  They have 2 cats named Bug and Nara and a reptile room including geckos, bearded dragons, snakes, and fish.  Dr. Smail has a passion for providing care to dogs and cats, as well as exotic companion animals and wildlife.  In her free time, she enjoys kayaking, reading, and crafting.  Dr. Smail is excited to have the opportunity to meet more members of the central Illinois community and provide care for companions.
